My Closet + Organization Tips

This post has been a long time coming and I’m sorry its taken me so long to put it together! 90% of these pictures were taken 4+ months ago, when I first decided to put this post together (oops, but I’m here now :). I’ll be sharing my closet layout, how I display such things, and tips on how to organize other things in your closet. I will also be linking as much as I can for you guys!

Before we start, I want to share some tips and tricks with you guys that can help if you’re looking to reorganize your closet or design a new one!

  • Matching Hangers – these make all of the difference! I know so many people don’t have matching hangers in their closet, but trust me when I say this is the first step towards making your closet look and feel more organized. I love the velvet hangers, because not only are they space savers, but they hold clothing so well and I never have to worry about anything slipping off. Linking a great deal on them here.
  • Hang clothing by type, then color as opposed to just color. For example, hang your sweaters together and then organize them in that section by color. This makes easy access to anything you want to wear and you can see more of what you have this way. After all, how often do you choose your outfit based on color over type.
  • Accessibility – think about the things you use most often and make sure they are easiest to access on a daily basis.

Ok, now onto the closet! Our master is combined, and I utilize about 80% of it. No guilt over it, and luckily Hemel supports my love of all things fashion so hes good with whatever he gets! 😍♥️

This is what you see when you first enter the closet. See the difference already on matching hangers vs if they were just mismatched different colors and styles?! I don’t utilize the top shelf much for items because it is so high, but I love having my designer boxes on display so that was the perfect spot for them.

Since I didn’t have much drawer space in the closet for things like pajamas, loungewear, swim, etc.; I purchased these white bins to add on the middle shelf for these things and then labeled them. I went with white because they blend the best with my closet, but they have tons of color options!

When folding, I like to fold my things and arrange them like pictured above as opposed to stacking. This way you can see it all at once. I know they call this the Marie Kondo method that recently came to be, but I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember! Linking the bins, labels, and the best chalk marker you will ever use here:

I store these plastic containers on the floor under my clothes and in them I put my scarves (also folded to where I can see them all at once).

This attachment rod is the best!!! You can add it anywhere in your closet and it easily slides in and out as needed, so you can tuck it in when you’re not utilizing it. So convenient and great to hang your outfits on for the week, while packing and picking outfits, etc. I use it most to keep track of things I need to shoot in / share with you guys. It’s the best! Linking it here.

For shoes and handbags, I have everything on shelves minus a few of my flats which are in these clear acrylic containers (LOVE these especially if you don’t have shelf space for shoes or prefer them put away, they are also stackable and come in other sizes). This closet had zero shelving when we purchased the house, so I got some of the hanging space taken out and got shelves put in. One wall I designated entirely to shoes, and the other is primarily handbags and accessories.

I really wanted an island in the middle of the closet, but the layout was a bit too narrow to fit one comfortably, so I added this cowhide rug and bench instead. Linking below.

For jewelry, I got this little section put in with some drawers. I love the look of having a ton of it on display as decor, and the rest is in the drawers. Also used one of these drawers to store all of my belts as pictured below. Will link a bunch of these items below the pictures 🙂

If you made it this far, woo hoo!! Here is a post I put together a few years back talking all thing Closet Organization with a bunch of tips and tricks as well. Thank you guys for stopping by!

Hi! So all of them aside from the blush pink Gucci can stand alone, for that one I just put a small square box about the size of my palm behind it and it holds it up!! 🙂
